From the fluorescent tube to the LED tube
Switching
from conventional fluorescent tubes to LED tubes has many advantages. Not only
are LED tubes more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, but they also
contain no toxic substances, such as mercury, which are contained in
fluorescent tubes. In this article, we show you how to remove your old
fluorescent tube and install the new LED tube.
Remove the old fluorescent tube
1. First: power off! It is best to turn
the fuse out. If necessary, disconnect the mains plug of the lamp.
2. Remove the cover of the fluorescent
tube until the tube contacts are visible.
3. The old tube has to be turned forward
by about 90 degrees. If it is a very old tube, use gloves as it may break when
you remove it, protecting you from shards of glass.
4. Pull the tube down out of the holder.
A device with and without starter
Depending on
whether your luminaire requires a starter, it has a conventional (CCG) or
electronic ballast (ECG). The table lists the two types. LED tubes have an LED
driver located inside the tube.

Install the new LED tube
Below are
two ways to install your new LED tube. Pay attention to which ballast you are
using. For both types, you have to pay attention to the length of the LED tube.
If the lamp does not work after the change, either the tube itself or the
supply line is defective. Contact an electrician for this.
A device with starter and KVG
1. First: power off! It is best to turn
the fuse out.
2. Replace the old starter with the LED
starter (also called "dummy starter"). Only then can a connection be
made.
3. Remove the protective caps (if any)
from the LED tube and slide the tube into the socket with both hands. Turn to
lock slightly.
4. Turn on the fuse and test the lamp.
